Thanked: 3215First look at the bevels and edge, from the side look for chips, they will have to be completely removed.
Tape the spine and set the bevel on your 1k stone.
The bevels should be flat from heel to toe and meet in a straight edge. All stria (scratches) on the bevels should be even and going in the same direction. Look at the edge straight down on the edge, any shinny spots are where the bevels are not meeting or a chip.
Do not use a lot of pressure, let the stone do the work, if you do, you may encounter chipping down the road, and do not move up in stones until the bevels are completely meeting. If you do, you will fight it all the way and still not have a razor that will shave.

Thanked: 0So I started honing today. went 1k,5k,8k,10k and on to stropping.
I tried my best to see how the blade was after each grit.
Ill just post the pics with description and let you give me some feedback.

I had to test it of course, and it gave me a pretty nice shave. Slight irritation, but that might just be technique.

You're making great progress IMAGINE: Do you use an aftershave balm after your shaves. Adding moisture back to your skin will usually resolve the irritation.

Thanked: 0Yes I do. I usually wash with warm water then cold, after my face is dry I apply a toner from US major. After the toner I apply a after balm by truefitt and hill and finish up with a moisturizer.
