    Default honing

well I'm pretty pleased with myself today

As my Dovo Astrale has started to drag and hasn't been honed in the 2 months I've had it, I gritted my teeth and took the plunge.

I gently ran it down my smoothest Arkansas hone for 20 passess alternating on each side, then stropped it 30 times on canvas and 15 on leather i it came out so sharp the hair shot off across the room when touched to the edge

Then feeling more confident using a spyderco fine ceramic and my Arkansas 'grey', I honed my other 3, none of these had ever been honed before and it took me over 1 1/2 hours but I did it, they are all now hair popping sharp. one of them bit me when I touched it to the ball of my thumb

So tomorrow morning, I'll try to shave with one of my newly honed razors.

I have found sometimes that I get a really really sharp edge, but it doesn't last very long. Sometimes not even through a full shave.

    But practice makes perfect.
