So as I'm stropping tonight I tried something a little different. I usually open my scales so they are aligned with the blade. Straight. Tonight I opened them a bit farther about 10-15 degrees and the balance was so much better. Anyone else do this?

I have not tried this, but will give it a go on my next shave.

I have noticed some of my 6/8+ blades like an extra 10 or 15%.

You can also rotate the strop a little towards the blade.

Yep, some razors and/or scale shapes like to be a fit further open for good balance.

I was taught to open them less than straight by about 15ยบ said to be a way of putting the correct torque on the blade.
Both your way and that seem to make honing easier.
