Thanked: 2aw man....
My razor came packaged in just a mailing envelope.
Surprise surprise: The scales were completely broken in half in two different places. The seller isn't answering my messages which doesn't surprise me because they didn't respond to my message asking why it was taking over a week to ship. Just dissapointed.
edit: moral of the story is: for pete's sake, package the razor...Last edited by Whipstitch; 11-19-2014 at 02:55 PM.

Thanked: 3795It takes a special kind of stupid to mail a razor that way but it happens.
If this was an ebay purchase you can get your money back. Be sure to photograph the razor and the envelope.

Thanked: 2It wasn't ebay, it was another selling site, but I did pay through paypal and I opened a case. I'll "escalate" if they don't refund in the next couple days.

I had that happen. Now, if the seller seems to be flipping a razor along with other stuff, I write a note to them and mention a few things.
> The best shipping method is a flat rate box with the razor well wrapped in newspaper and packed with crumpled newspaper or supermarket bags to prevent rattle.<
If you decide to use an envelope, not recommended!
1. Wrap the razor in paper longer than it is and place it in a plastic bag
2. Attach the razor wrapped tightly in the plastic bag to a folded piece of card board the size of the inside of the envelope with tape so it cannot slide.
3 This saves broken razors and hassle.
4. It also prevents an unscrupulous person from teasing the razor through a hole in the envelope.
This I have had happen, and broken razors are common when shipped this way

Thanked: 2Thanks Geezer! Unfortunately, this guy claims to be a straight razor specialist and offers a large stock of vintage straights and honing services. Is that what you meant; that you offer shipping suggestions if they are selling a bunch of stuff with the odd razor here or there?

I use it often. Not if I've had dealing before with them. I have had some folks, even big volume sellers, thank me for the information.
Some "Experts" are no longer "Drips Under Pressure" They are 'sperts"
Good luck, PayPal can be a savior...if you are a buyer. They can be a super pain, for a seller...if they have a crank that files a claim... a good seller can have, up to all of, their funds tied up for months till the claim is settled.
I posted mainly for the folks that haven't done much online buying.
Good luck with your claim. The guy was stupid!
