Default First Straight Razor & Shave

Well my wife has been looking to get something special for me for Christmas this year, so several months ago I placed an order with Robert Williams for a Custom straight razor, but it will be almost Feb before it will be finished. So my wife told me to start looking for one that I can open up on Christmas day.....I found one at Straight Razor Design....a Ralf Aust 7/8 Spanish point with olive wood scales. Well the razor came in today and I just could not wait to give it a test run, so I got everything ready and took it very slowly and I was able to use both hands and make a pass with the grain and across.....no blood, no cuts....not a BBS shave, but a nice shave! So I am hooked and can't wait to get my technique down and really just enjoy the shave!!

    Nice choice on the razors.

Very nice razor you have there. Very nice wife you have also to allow Christmas in November. Maybe your wife should talk to my wife? Everyone know Santa delivers SR's early in November!

    Welcome to the SRP Forum/family.

Both of your choices in Razors are excellent.
I could not have waited either...

There is much to learn/master but you are off to a great start, and this is the right place for help.

    Smooth shaving...

I owned that same razor - one of my best shavers until an "incident" that chipped the blade!

You have a very thoughtful wife and a very nice (first straight razor). Welcome to SRP. These two youtube videos helped me develop my S.R. shaving technique, Lynn Abrams, and DRMatt357, three pass shave, shaving to classical music. Good Luck

I've got the 6/8 with a round point in olivewood...shaved with it tonight and was amazed as usual. Enjoy it, they are great razors.

As your shave technique improves you will appreciate your Ralf Aust that mush more.
