    Default Hi folks, I'm new.

Howdy, my name's Scott and I live in Cedar Rapids, IA.

I bought an old "W. H. Sample" 5/8 razor off eBay a year ago, attempted to sharpen it with sandpaper on glass, strop it with an old leather belt, and shave with some regular foamy, but didn't stick with it for long. Now that my electric Norelco's blades are wearing out, I'm eager to ditch it for good instead of simply buying new blades (I'm sensible like that).

So now I'm serious: I've purchased Lynn's DVD, ordered one of Tony's kits, and have decided to de-lurk on SRP. Lots of cool folks here, nice to meet you.

    - Scott

Weclome Scott. I am glad you are doing it right this time. You won't go wrong with a Tony Miller Kit, and Lynn's DVD is a must have. You are off to a good start this time around.

    Welcome!

Not too bad on the first try, keep it up and it'll get better. And your setup wasn't ghetto - just basic, practical, and economical. Nothing wrong with that

    Cheers

Thanks folks. I'd say that today was about my dozenth straight shave or so. I'm a little reddish and rough -- I should probably stick to shaving the night before for the time being.
