Thanked: 0Decent Strops
I started straight razor shaving not too long ago and I bought a cheap strop to start. Now I am in need of a better strop but I'm in a pretty tight budget. I saw strop that isn't too expensive and looks to be pretty good, it's a 3" "Big Daddy" leather strop. Has anyone heard of it and is it a decent buy?

There are plenty of reviews on here and a number of blokes using them. From all accounts a decent strop for the price. Good luck

+1 to what Richard says...It is a very decent strop for a rather inexpensive price. I have one and it works quite.

my 1st & main strop for about a year & a half is a big daddy with the felt no problems with it, but I haven't used any other bought strop really apart from a brief stint with a Illinois I refurbeb & gifted to the Son in-law
Note there is breaking in required with them thats all
my 2nd is a DIY Roo strop works great toLast edited by Substance; 12-03-2014 at 05:27 AM.

I've owned a big daddy with English bridle and felt for about a year now. I love the felt, but I can't say I'm a big fan of the English bridle. My other strop is a basic SRD strop with Latigo. Between the two, I much prefer the Latigo over the bridle. The bridle just feels too grabby (heavy draw) for me and it's very stiff. Maybe I haven't broken it in right or something.
Either way, it is a very well constructed strop, and the felt is a winner in my book. At some point, I'd like to get a piece of their replacement leather... only this time, I'll go with the Latigo.Classic, traditional Barber and owner at Barber's Notch in Brigham City, Utah.

Thanked: 0I saw somewhere that the felt on the "Big Daddy" wasn't all that great. What are it's draw backs, if there are any?
