Hello and a Q....
Hi,
The names Tristan and I hail from the smaller side of the pond....
At the moment I shave with a Feather AC. However looking at some of the absolutly stunning razors (the TI ones especialy!) I have been considering getting a 'proper' straight. I understand the technique is sligtly different as well?
Any advice would be welcome!
Regards
Tristan

Thanked: 346Well there's the honing and stropping of course, but one of the main differences during the actual shave is you don't have to worry nearly so much about nicks or scrapes or razor burns as you do when shaving with a Feather AC or even a DE. Human-honed straights are very mild and gentle compared to the harsh edges of the DE and AC blades (and cartridge razors too, for that matter).

Now thats good news!
Any recomendations on razors? I was planning on getting a pre-honed one off this forum when one came up...

Thanked: 346A pre-honed one off this forum works well, unfortunately you just missed a whole batch of TI's that were sold a few days ago. You can also get the TI's at Classic and opt for the honing service and your razor will be sent to the founder of this forum, Lynn Abrams, for honing.

Welcome, Tristan
Let's hope so!
Word is that the traditional straight is more forgiving than the feather so you might find it more comfortable to use.
Sorry I don't have anything ready right now, but there's bound to be one up soon. Alternately, you can post a WTB thread in the FST Forum.

Thanked: 0Hi Tristan
If you mean you are on the Europe side of the pond LX_Emergency had some nice ones for sale not too long ago. I don't know if they are already gone, but he is a standup bloke - and the prices were very reasonable.
Cheers

I still have a bunch of them. Only two have been sold so far. Look in the trade section. There's a video there. I might have one or two more lying around as well (including one with nice wooden scales). You can always PM me.
