Thanked: 0black spots on my razor?
After 7 shaves i think i'm gettin the hang of it. I had my best shave yesterday, no razor burn, no cuts and it was very smooth, but I noticed little black spots on my razor, they do not come off. I wipe it down after every shave so what are these little black spot and how do you clean them. How do you clean your razor after every shave.

Thanked: 0I did this too. The black spots could be where a little soap has stayed on the blade. It could have been missed whilst washing, or maybe as you were cleaning up your other apparatus you splashed some soapy water onto the blade without realising? Thats what I assumed I did anyway.
I now wash the blade under running water with a cloth, then carefully dry the blade with tissues and put it away before cleaning everything else up.
A weak solution of vinegar and water with a q-tip brought the black off. Make sure you wash that off thoroughly too though. Experts may come in and say don't do that though - wait and hear from others more knowledgeable then me before taking that as gospel.
Hope that helps

I agree with Si, that it is most likely a reaction from soap residue. If the vinegar doesn't work, a polishing with Flitz of Maas may get them out.

In the future, dry your razor completely before putting it away. I wipe mine with a towel, then with rubbing alcohol, then I blow moisture from the pivot pin and set the razor out to air dry for at least 10 or 15 minutes.

I've done all that mumbo jumbo and I still get those black spots. I don't worry about them anymore. When I have to hone them I give it a quick treatment with simichrome and they come right off. They don't do any harm.

I've taken the Dremel to the honed blades.. You have to be extra careful and it's a nerve-wrecking experience. After a while, I just leave them be if they can't be polished out with a rag unless I see that the problem is getting out of control.
