Default Hi! I am new to Straight Razor Places

Hi Everyone! My name is Tim Troyer and I am a custom knife maker by hobby. I love straight razors and shaving with them. I started making straight razors a little while ago, but am now trying to get serious about them. I am here to learn all I can. I forged this one from W2 and the scales are black and brown Micarta with toxic green G10 liners. I need to learn to hone them and continue to improve my technique. It is fun to look through this forum and learn all that I can. The name of my forge is "Sugarcreek Forge" and that is also the name of my YouTube channel.

It's great to see more and more knifemakers taking a shot at razors.

    I'm glad you're here!

I've seen some of your videos on U-tube, good stuff. Glad to see you around.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

    Welcome and good luck.

It's great to see this craft as well as wet shaving making a comeback.

Welcome! I like micarta and hope to get some scales some day..I've got it on a knife and it feels great when wet. The sharp point on the heel of that one makes me bleed just looking at it....

Welcome to SRP Tim. That's a beautiful first razor that most any of us would be proud to own. I'd like to see a shot of it where you can see the toxic green liners. It can only get better from here. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
    Enjoy the ride!

If I can afford it, I buy the best that I can. If I can't afford, I make it. If I can't make it... I do without!
