Welcome aboard,,,,,
More likely than not, there is a way to fix the blade. Good close-up photos of the blade would help.
The blade can be sent out/mailed to one of the restoration members in the classified section & have them inspect it in person.

Thanked: 55Send it out for honing is probably your best option. Sorry to hear, is very annoying thing that many have done.

Thanked: 55Does strop still feel smooth? Lyn at straight razor designs or gssixgun or other forum members in classifieds. If still feels smooth. Maybe just rub some lather in (someone with more experience will chime in soon am sure) I nicked mine quite badly and sanded it out then rubbed lather in and seems absolutely fine again.

You're not an idiot. We've all had similar 'accidents'. Other posters are correct. Send it to one of the pros to inspect and fix.
I've found, if the scratch/cut is mainly superficial, little has to be done to it. Rub with the palm of your hand and see if that smooths it out some. Daily use of it, with the rubbing should negate the nick."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."
