Thanked: 0First Shave
Finally got my shave kit together and prepped. So tonight I decided to do my first wet shave with a SR. It went well. I only nicked myself once and it was so small it wasn't even a weeper. I went a little further than just doing a WTG on the cheeks. I did my whole face along with a CTG. I only needed to do ATG with my disposable to get BSS.
I learned I need a lot more work on getting a good lather. The best thing was that I listened to the advice of shaving the lather not the whiskers. I truly believe that kept me from looking like fresh hamburger. LOL.
I am now truly addicted to Wet Shaving. Let the journey begin!

Zippo,
Here's a good video by Lynn on loading a brush. This is, however, more of the high end of what it takes to load a brush. Other soaps, creams etc. will require less, or more loading. It takes some trial and error to learn the characteristics of the product you're using.
High end soaps/creams, i.e. Martin de Candre...soap or XPEC... cream, will require much less product to load, and other brands will require more.
Basically it's learning to load the tip of your brush with soap or cream and then apply that to the your face with the right amount of water.
It takes some experimenting and trial & error to figure out the right combination of soap/cream to water ratio that gives the optimal amount of lather with all the ancillary qualities of cushion and glide.
Start with overloading to get a nice lather. Then try less or more to see what the sweet spot is for your product.
On the videos.....I'll add two....the first one I mentioned, and the second by gssixgun which helps with prep, lather, blade angles, etc. etc.. You'll find some useful info in both of these vids.
Best Regards,
Howard
