multiple personalities visit for first shave
Well another troll has come into the light and didn’t turn to stone!
I had my first straight razor shave today and while I didn’t need stitches,
I was not aware of the multiple personalities that comes to light during the first effort with a straight razor.
I was thrilled to see spa guy, the hot towels and special touches to make the experience enjoyable.
I was less thrilled to see shaky guy take over as the blade hesitated before first contact.
I was even less thrilled to see careless guy try to overcompensate for shaky guy.
Economy of movement became my watch phrase.
Well I listened to Tony Miller’s tip on keeping it simple for the first shave and ended on a good note with only a couple of nicks; nothing needing a styptic pencil just yet, and a fine start to the learning curve.
I want to thank everyone for their efforts on this forum to assist newbs like I get enough information to make educated choices in this adventure.
Thanks

Thanked: 0Great post and replies - you really do turn into a dozen different people during the shave process. When stropping I always think OCD guy rears his head, and shaving my chin around my chin hair arrangement always brings out Really Really Intense guy too.
Cheers

Welcome, Creel
Don't worry about Shakey Guy. He's only been hired temporaraily until Mr Confident has cleared up his schedule. With careful attention, the learning curve can be pretty steap.
Good start!
