My first straight razor
Thiers issard, le grelot form, rams horn, carbonsong c-135 steel, 11/16, half hollow, x-thick grind, shoulderless, round point. The picture isn't really doing it justice, she is a thing of beauty.
The ONLY thing I don't really like is the etching on the tang, the etching appears to be lazered? rather than stamped?
I need to buy a strop ASAP.
EDIT: How could I forget this is actually my second SR not my first. I bought a £3 gold dollar a few weeks ago, with the intention of using it to practice stropping and maybe try to hone it one day.Last edited by RedGladiator; 02-05-2015 at 10:14 PM.

You may also want to practice stropping before letting loose on your razor (which I quite like by the way). Oh and welcome to the club.

Thanked: 52RedGladiator:
Really nice choice as your first str8, has it come shave ready? If so remember to not strop before your first shave just do your face prep, lather up and shave. You can probably get a couple of shaves in before you need to strop and it will allow you to experience what a truly shave ready edge is like.
If on the other hand this razor came with a factory edge you may want to send it out and get a really good edge put on it before you start.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Beautiful razor. Focus on learning to strop. That is the quickest way we noobs ruin a good edge...

Hi Red, and welcome.
The guys are telling you right about shave-readiness & stropping. You had to have dropped a fair bit of coin on that gorgeous razor. You might consider a few coins for a lessor blade - even one that doesn't shave or have a real edge to practice the stropping. You'll no doubt pick it up faster than I did, but the vids & threads on stropping for beginners are really worthwhile. I destroyed 5 strops for lack of a single bit of technique info.
'Hope that beautiful blade puts many smiles on your face.

Yeah I got it from Invisibleedge shave ready. I have a £3 gold dollar I'll use to practice stropping. I might buy a £1 strop from ebay to practice with if anyone thinks it's a good idea?
I'm in no rush to shave with it yet, I've been using the feather DX for over a month. I can't capture how the scales really look with my camera, it looks so much better in person I kinda don't want to shave with it, it's so beautiful lol
