    I'd go for a used razor myself, from any reputable vendor or a good hobbyist.

    Not sure if anyone has already said this or not, but the SRP classifieds are an excellent place to start looking for your first razor.

    I suppose it would make a good starter razor for my son. Start him out right with a DE instead of disposable.

    Take your time, there is no rush. Spend a few weeks just looking around and get a feel for what you think you might like. Don't be too obsessed about finding "the one" you will end up with a collections anyway.
