How fast do these stones cut, Justin? They certainly are a good alternative for the man with a budget. Of course, I know nothing of a budget being independently wealthy

Hey Matt --- I've honed a fair number of knives using Arkansas oil stones --that's all I've used ---and they cut fairly slow ----so compared to that they seem to cut pretty quick. But I think others have mentioned that they are slower cutting than a Norton --but I wouldn't know. My razor wasn't for off so it didn't take much and I might be a able to do a little more but I am cautious with the over-honing bit and all. But it was quick enough for me ---- my pockets aren't complaining .
Plus, even if I have money to spare --- I tend to try to go the harder/sometimes cheaper route to get the most out of/learn more and then move on to the bigger and better --- it never has failed me.
Takes it easy Arizona way,
Justin

Unfortunatley not so cheap in Australia.
Those stones are a nice price, so I enquired about shipping costs to Australia. Here is the reply I received.
"Andrew,
In response to your e-mail to Shopsmith concerning placing an order.
Shipments outside the United States may be subject to custom charges
which is the responsibility of the purchaser. Prices are as follows:
521005 4000 grit water stone $ 6.99 each
521006 8000 girt water stone $10.99 each
If you order one each the shipping charge to Australia is $65.30. If
you order more than one each, the shipping charges will be higher. If
you wish to order, please reply with a complete mailing address and
charge card number with expiration date.
Gail
Customer Service"
A total of $83.28USD which equates to $99.60AUD...Suddenly these stones don't seem so cheap...Considering I can purchase a Norton 4000/8000 combo locally for $115.00AUD shipped.
