48 hours to reset the razor? How about 48 hours to reset my face.
I Got to the coffee shop today and was asked if I just fought someone with a ring.
Day 3 of str8 shaving and earning my stripes, If anyone knows whether the Heidelberg duelling club is hooking up n Ottawa chapter I might be a fit

I can’t say how happy I am to see the weekend.

Patience is a virtue. There is no instant gratification with straight razor shaving as you have surely found out; however, the reward is definately more than worth the costs

Yep, I'm only a week and a half into renouncing electric razors. Even though my chin is still a little pink, I *come home* from work with a smoother face than I used to get *in the morning* with the electric!

There is no comparison!

It takes about to weeks for your face to get accustomed to the aggressive depiling that a straight razor performs. Shaving every other day is a good idea for the first few weeks. As for those little stripes ... well that's just a matter of technique and you'll get there soon.

Just keep at it. Rome wasn't built in a day and you won't master a straight razor overnight. Just give it a rest if need be. You'll start noticing improvements day by day.

Thanks for the support folks and xman thanks for the heads up. I will regen over the weekend and start back on a day on day off to reset the razor and my face while I get accustomed to the regimen.

Rocky never even made it up the steps at the start of the movie. The least I can do is to continue my due diligence through scouring forums and put in some effort.

youve got it easier than you know!! you have the benefit of years of experience right at your fingertips. Take advantage of it and be patient.
Quite a few of us never had that benefit!!

Hang in there. It took me about six months to get good enough at it to shave comfortably, closely, and evenly every day, but I stayed with it (despite a few frustrations and less-than-optimimum results in the beginning). I had a hard time resisting the temptation of reverting back to the cartridge system, though.

Of critical importance:

1. a properly honed and stropped razor
2. proper preparation and using pre-shave, lather and after-shave products that work for YOU (I get my best results with Proraso products, and I've tried a bunch of others that are a lot more expensive)
3. proper technique (blade angle, pressure, etc.; although everybody differs slightly on what works best for them)
4. knowing your own beard and which strokes to use on any given portion of your face (again, everybody is a bit different)
