+2 on what Shaun (Rezdog) said....
It is especially difficult to try to learn to both shave with a straight and learn to hone at the same time.
Perhaps you should concentrate on shaving with a professionally honed razor first.
BobH, Haroldg48 and Scareface like this.
    S.L.A.M.,.......SHAVE LIKE A MAN!!!
Not like a G.I.R.L. (Gentleman In Razor Limbo)

Yeah, I found out about the less expensive, shave ready razors after I bought my Henckels.

I tried experimenting with the angle some while shaving, and it helped, but I think it probably needs more time on the finishing stone. Hopefully, one more session with my 12k stone will have it good to go.

Technique makes a huge amount of difference. Many new shavers ask about problems with pro honed edges not being right only to later find the blade is fine thier technique just was lacking to start. It is also a good idea to add your location to your profile and maybe there is someone local who can help

I thought that may be the case. It would be great to have a pro honed edge to use for reference. Right now I can't be sure how much of the problem is technique and how much is the hone job.
I'll add my location, Duluth, GA to my profile in a moment.
It is right outside Atlanta, OTP North.
