Thread: Am I alone in my Vanity?

I've noticed that since I started to shave with a straight, I've been looking in the mirror more often and examining my face (shave) more often, stroking my face and thinking "wow, smooth!". That and having a smug-ish feeling that I "shave like a man" (This is Saprta!!!) and do a decent job of it.
Anyone else find themselves doing this?

certainly do. In fact, I go one further and rope in the wife to see and feel and tell me that it's closer than when I used to use a Muck 3. A variation on the "Tell me I'm fantastic - tell me you love me" type vanity.

Nope.... Mirror time and faceturbation are fairly common in our community.

Nothing vain in checking out something that you have spent time and dedication in learning!!

Since shaving with a straight, i've even got right into groooming products, and really take pride and care in my facial care. Your face is the bit people usually look at when they first meet you, so a well cared for mush is always good.

Even my girlfriend of 7 years has noticed a vast improvement in my skin since shaving with a straight. It really does seem to help. I think it's the whole process of cleansing before the shaving, steaming out impurities, then exfoliation with the razor, followed up with some nice moisturising products!

I'm off for a luxury shave right now, so plently of mirror time for me coming right up!!!

I'll admit it, I'm guilty. My fiancee met me when I was shaving with a straight, so she doesn't know the bad shaves that a MockIII give. Oh well, just means no special treatment from her, but I get that from myself, so it all works out.

Dude if your wife catches you looking in the mirror there is only one thing to do

You say flat out that you were just telling yourself how lucky you were to have a flash girl like her and asking yourself what you could possibly do to improve yourself for her.

Then turn away from the mirror and look her in the eyes and say it like you mean it.

" Do you know why I work so hard at this shaving stuff? Its for you. It's always been for you."

From then on your shaving efforts are for her and not for you.
