I'd read forums, watched Lynn's YouTube videos, received my razor, strop and chromium oxide in the mail. Part of me wanted to wait for the Beaver Brush engine46 was sending me but I just couldn't stand it any longer. It is not often a guy my age gets to experience anything new - that is why we so often go looking for it. I thought this would be easy - just do it the way Lynn showed us and I'll fast forward skipping his instruction on doing one cheek only the first time.
It didn't take long - just holding the razor was definitely in the "new experience" category. It reminded me of the first (and only) time I'd strapped on scuba tanks and breathed under water - in a word, weird.
For those of you who have seen a pic of my razor in the Introduction area - that little curved jut out on the end of my razor caught me by the ear for my first nick before I'd even taken a swipe. I did however make both cheeks without another hitch then finished up the rest with the old gillette.
I could not help but thinking - if it hadn't of been for the videos how badly I would have butchered myself and I never would have tried again. However - I loved it and will be back after watching this one again.

The one first thing I recommend to any newbie - is to watch Lynn's videos after you read what all the seasoned shavers have to tell you. Seeing it done after getting all the "book" knowledge was so helpful.
