Rough shave tonight... :(
North Alabama Shave of the Night - 4/8/15
Pearson Handmade Wedge - 5/8 Square point Full Wedge
Satin Tip "The Purest" synthetic brush (awesome brush by the way)
Razorock P160 soap
Razorock Alum Block
Osage Rub
Nivea Men Sensitive Cooling Post Shave Balm
Rough shave tonight, fellas. Still trying to get the hang of it. Have been doing well as of late, but relapsed tonight (square point didn't help any).
Osage felt great on the face since I exfoliated about 37 layers of skin. Next shave will have to be a DE to allow my skin to heal.

Thanked: 1184Watch your angle , lighter pressure. I had a tendency to get heavy handed in the beginning. Many do without realizing it.
Of course this is all advice for someone that is doing a fine job of stropping. If your not keeping the edge keen than more pressure is used ( with consequences) to try and make up for it.Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

+1 on the angle and pressure. Something I have to suggest is trying to use the straight consistently. When I start using my DE a lot my straight razor technique degrades. Also, don't try to force a perfect shave every time.

and always keep your mind focused on the tip, especially with square/spike points

Don't chase that BBS! Just be patient and gentle with your face - aim to remove the soap/cream - just shave it off, the whiskers will come with it! You should at least then achieve DFS. Keep the faith!!

One great benefit of straight shaving has been my enhanced ability to hear that quiet voice in my head that says, "Seriously, the stars are not aligned; put the razor down and bail out. Tomorrow's another day."
Keep your pivot dry!

Don't forget skin stretching. Made a big difference for me.

Happens to me once in a blue moon. Not rough but just alright and not great which is the norm.
Without any change in razor or soap.
If it happens twice in a row I change something (for me it's just the razor or the soap since I use the same brush) and it's great again. Switch back to the previous thing - great again.
Beats me, so I just attribute it to the shaving gods screwing with me
