Default Newbie, thrilled, excited and inquisitive!

Hi everyone, i started using a shavette a couple of months ago, was happy using so purchased a Dovo Bismarck. I was so thrilled, having had many successful shaves with this that i purchased a fine Thiers Issard. Getting swept away in the world of straight shaving i bought a vintage razor on eBay for £8. Having investigated further i found that it was likely to be from between the years 1820 and 1850. I honed it, stropped it and shaved with it. I was thrilled to have used a razor that was so old. It wasn't the tidiest experience but thrilling all the same!
However, the blade was fairly badly darkened. I believe it's called patina or Devil's spit? I'm resigned to the fact that it is present on my cheap e bay razor but would hate to think that it threatened my expensive attractive razors. I meticulously dry my razors after use, store them in a cupboard in my bedroom, i use one razor for a week and leave the other oiled. From what i've read i'm thinking these are the correct actions but i'm worried incase this is unavoidable. I'd be most grateful for any advice.
    Many thanks

Well I am happy you shaves are great. Most guys do not store razors in the bathroom it is too humid for long razor health in most cases. Most of the time guys will post pics of there razors. Mostly because we like to share our prizes and who doesn't like razor pictures. Devil's spit is another name for black rust, and it is completely different from patina. A nice ever grey is patina, splotchy black and grey is likely black rust.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
