    Default Gave it a shot

Well, I lathered up and tried the straight for the first time today. I got impatient, felt like the razor was "close enough", ie, wouldn't pass the hanging hair test, but would pop hairs off my arm with a little resistance. All in all, not so bad. My face is a little irritated, and the shave's not super close, but I didn't cut myself either, so that's a plus. I was most surprised by how tired my arm got. I'm not the least bit ambidexterous, so it was right hand all the way. I was taking it very slowly and by the time I was finishing my chin I was starting to get a little shaky. It was both easier and harder than I thought it'd be. I hope my second razor comes soon so I can get a honemeister sharpened blade and try that!

Not a bad first day. you can expect your face to talk to you about this change in shaving habits for a couple of weeks. If it gets to shouting and screaming you should probably listen, but otherwise it's just sour grapes and your skin will get used to it very quickly.

    Welcome!

No one's first shave is perfect. Straight-shaving is a simple activity in theory, but it can take a long time to develop the technique to get a good shave all over.

The advise given is right on. Your arm won't get tired anymore as you begin to relax more during the shave. Its probably the tension making it harder.
