    Default Leo's 1st straight shave

Hello all i finally received my shave ready blade in the mail.... alot of you told me just because it says shave ready it just may not be. Well sure enough upon the forst strokes i feel the blade pulling on my whiskers. Also i think i may have a problem with the way i build my lather. I use some van der hagen luxury soap and it feels really dry. Im going to continue shaving with my mach3 for now until i send this blade out to get fixed. Oh and i cut myself doh!

If you want to work on your lather building skills while using the mach 3, I suggest getting a tub of Proraso. It's cheap, easy to lather and performs wonderfully. I love the Red because I love the sandlewood scent, but if you like menthol, the green is great too and if you have sensitive skin, the white is for you.

I have a bunch of artisan soaps and really love them, but Proraso is my trusty go-to when trying a razor or brush for the first time.

Put a little water (teaspoon) on top of the VDH and let it sit for 15 minutes or so. Pour the soapy water into your lather bowl. Load your brush on the soap for about a minute and then build your lather in the bowl. If it needs more water, add about a quarter of a teaspoon at a time. If it gets too runny, just load the brush on the soap puck some more.

I just bought a razor from wolfpack which should arrive today. I'm so excited to shave with it that I didn't shave this morning and decided to work from home today so that I can shave with it when it gets here. His description of how he hones and strops a razor sounds awesome.
