Thanked: 150I don't know anything about the blade, but I think using it should not be a problem. Surgical instruments are used on more than one person, because they are sterilized. I think that if you are truly worried bout cross-contamination, you could just put the blade in an alcohol bath for a short while, and it should be good a sterilized. however, I will differ to more senior individuals, with more experience.

Thanked: 0If you work with body art, you probably know more about contamination risks than most of us :-).
Most disease causing agents die within a few seconds of leaving the body - unless then are kept in live blood. That's not the case for razors, of course, and why needles are a problem. As I understand it, the only significant risk is from hepatitis (C, I believe), which can form spores - and the spores will survive almost anything short of a good session in an autoclave.

Welcome, Mario
All my razors are antiques and I've had no problems with them at all. A little rubbing alcohol after each shave helps to ensure they remain free of bacteria.
Glad you could make it by.

Welcome aboard Mario. I started giving my new acquisitions a good soak/rubdown with Lysol 4 in 1, a rinse and depending on the scale material, a cleaning with alcohol (but not for celluloid scales as it makes them rot). Bleach is too aggressive on carbon steel so I stopped using it. Most of my razors are antiques and my blood tests come out clean (I get checked every year, especially since my doc freaked over me getting some ink done a couple of times lol).
