I have some WD 40 but I don't use it on my razors. I use it out in the garage on less critical things like a rusty bolt or nut that needs more ease of removal.

I use Tuf-Glide on my pivots & I use the SRD Straight Razor Oil & the SRD Straight Razor Oil Applicator for coating my blades. I also have an optional Tuf-Glide rag sealed in a screw top plastic container. I have used WD 40 to coat things in my garage to keep from rusting but over time a light film of rust developed. It might be because I live in the Houston, Tx area & we are so close to the coast (45-50 miles) & the humidity is so high here as opposed to other areas of the country so I'm not disagreeing with others who use it. If I had a choice, I would move back to Arizona or a dryer place where nothing rust's. I lived in the Phoenix area for about 1 1/2 years & I saw older cars & trucks driving on the streets in perfect condition for example, no rust where here these older vehicles have already become rust buckets & have been in the bone yards for years or have already been crushed & recycled into something else! Now for things I coat for longer periods of time in my garage, I have a spray type grease that comes out thin but sets up like a grease coating.

I use WD-40 for dozens of jobs,, I buy it by the gallon at Home Depot to use in a squirt bottle.
But like Utopian,, I use mineral oil on my razors,,, no problem yet.
