Thanked: 0Torn between Feather and Straight
I purchased a Dovo "Ray Dupont" straight from classic shaving, just like the one on Lynn's video and I'm not sure which I like better, my Feather or the Dovo. Do many people use multiple razors? Is there any benefit besides sharpening? I'm also looking for a good shaving cream and brush, does anyone have any recommendations?

Lots of folks use multiple razors. I use about 4 or 5 myself. As far as brushes, Vulfix & Simpsons make some nice ones, though I don't own one. Badger is preferred over boar by most people. There is no standard for grading things like super badger & best badger between manufacturers, so don't buy based on that alone. Vulfix Sandalwood and Trumper's Sandalwood from ClassicShaving are two of my favorite creams.

Did you also purchase the honing service? The razors do not come shave ready when you purchase them new. If you have not experienced shaving with a properly honed razor then you cannot make any comparison.

I'll try and answer some of your questions:
Most people who get into straight shaving at one time or another let it become sort of a hobby and start accumulating all manor of accutrements. Probably more people shave with multiple razors than have only one. personally my rotation has about 70 razors .
As far as recommendations go everybody will give you their favorites. You need to experiment. For soaps I like trumpers and Haslinger. For creams I think Castle Forbes has no peer though its pricey.
For a brush it depends what you like, soft, firm, that will dictate what you should get. I like Rooney, they sell quality brushes though there are others. You can get a pure badger or best or silvertip.
As far as the blade goes, make sure its sharp. As has been said new razors are seldom shaveready, especially Dovo's.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

I'll be the odd duck....as usual.
For a brush, the C&E Best badger..... THE best value in a brush.
What do you mean do others use more than one razor....never heard of Razor Aquisition Disorder then I guess...
RAD takes hold of all of us sooner or later....
I've heard the Feather gives a closer shave to some as it's so #$%^@ sharp. The guarded blades may be a safer way for a beginner to start, but I started with a Weck (no guard) and have now moved on to a recently aquired normal straight with no problems.
As to creams- everyone seems to like Trumpers Sandlewood (unless you have sensative skin) and Kiss My Face Vanilla or Limes. That's as good a place to start as any.... you'll have several different ones soon enough. It's kinda like those Pokemon cards..."gotta catch em all"

Go straight. Feathers are sissy's. Think about it ...
"He fellas! I used a feather on my cheeks this morning for the first time and it felt super!" compared to,
"I shave with a 'cut-throat', dude".
