Well, Here I is !!!
Hey Everybody My name is Sam, I've been DE shaving with a Gillette Super Speed (Black handle plastic base ive since moved up to a Gillette FatBoy when i wore out my Blackie) that was my dad's, Since I was 14. I'm 36 now, I remember that on special days and occasions I would see my old man break out that little dark blue box with gold letters and start his regimen with his strop, Ssssp Ssssp Ssssp Ssssp... man that was COOL ! That was my "Dads_Old_Boker". That razor was chipped when one of his dumb kids (I wont say which...) bumped it off of the table while he was honing it .... This was when there was no Internet and no way to repair it or find a new blade for those gorgeous Tortoise scales all of his tools disappeared, strop went dry Razor was lost. Well now it's my turn and I'm late to learn it, but ill catch up. I picked up a handful of Vintage Bokers, couple of honing practice blades and a couple of strops from Lynn @ SRD. One of my "prize" Bokers and a strop will go to Pops, and just like when I was 14 ill have him teach me to shave, maybe he'll let me sit on the sink counter like when I was 2

Thanked: 4828Great story. I hope you get those old Bokers pro honed to start with. It is tough to learn to hone and shave at the same time.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanks for the heads up Rez, the two razors sitting on the stone (Boker and American Beauty) came from a gentleman named Logan Grose who does very professional restoration and honing work. He goes by the Handle "senorsteve154" on ebay. but doesn't appear to be a member here..

Just always beware , lots of eBay fellows who claim to know razors , but their only intent is to sell ,, as for the brand if honed properly they will do you a good job,, tc

Yes Sir, thank you! I always buy my razor's with the initial intention of always having them honed first. I was actually impressed enough with the keenness of his edge, after checking it with my loupe and HHT tests that I had no reserve in buying a second razor from him. My other "Prize" Bokers will be sent off very soon, and until I get my hones and practice hone razors that's how it will be.

Not quite my ritual remembrance from the past, but close.
Wonderful story. Good to see you found a place where you can research and converse with thoughts of the same mindset.
We hope your father will be stoked with his new set.
But you may need to take some home improvement classes, after you sit on his vanity.
