Default It would be easier if I had leno`s chin

So new to straights, I finally switched over after a year with a DE. I have watched Lynn`s video many times and pick up tiny differences each time. But my chin is the bane of my Sr shaving life. If it's close it's razor burned and the alum block let's me know. If it feels good to the block it's rough on the fingers. I'm shaving WTG. If I go against it wants to hang up and I have visions of arterial blood on the ceiling... totally false I know but the mind thinks these things. So any tips on getting around this rounded nob of frustration at the bottom of my face.

Also primarily shaving with my dominant hand only... should I get comfortable with it fir s t then t t y off hand or just go all in?

    Thanks for the help
    Tom

Usually people do an across the grain pass between WTG and ATG. That might help your catching problem.

If your blades hanging up one of the reasons can be your edge ain't there, Technique , prep , and lather could be issues also. Tc

Thinking it might be the edge is not really good and/or your angle might be off. To get a close cut you lean on a blade too heavy to compensate for a poor edge and get razor burn. For me ATG the blade is almost flat.

I still remember the first time that I was able to shave my chin DFS in the first pass...
The magic was a new to me razor from the SRP classifieds that arrived when I had 20 something shaves in.

It was that edge...at the time my stropping skills where "meh" so my edges where getting steadily worse.
That inexpensive, "no-name" (Chas Randel/Chapplewhite Hardware) showed up when I had just enough skills to realize the difference.

And I still never ATG my chin...WTG and XTG work fine.

Hang in there, this will come together before you know it.

    Smooth shaving

    Hi Tom

There are many variables in getting a DFS.

You don't say where you live but probably an experienced user in nearby.

I don't know, I have a friend who looks very much like Leno - he's always kept a beard over his chin.
Which, I guess, definitely makes it much easier
