Thanked: 0Monsieur Charles
Just made the leap from electric to straight razor and wanted to ask if anyone has any thoughts on the Monsieur Charles, which takes disposable insert blades. Any thoughts?

My thought is that I have never heard of that company before, and if it is any good I would have heard of it by now. Most people do not use disposible straights on this forum; however, if you insist on trying one the two disposible razors to look into would be the DOVO shavette or the Feather Artist Club.

I believe the Monsieur Charles is a shavette style razor, I believe it takes a normal DE blade broken in half, though I will not swear to it. My barber uses one to finish around the ears, sideburns & the back of the neck. You can check into this one or the dovo shavette for somewhere in the $20-$25 price range. You can also check some of your local beauty supply stores, as they sometimes have a Fromm knock-off for about $10. The Feather is the holy grail of disposables. I want one at some point.

Thanked: 346My barber uses one as well. Seems to work fine - I've been thinking about picking one up just to see. I think it takes injector blades, which means it would take shortened feathers (:->

Welcome aboard El Guapo. Just be careful with that razor or you'll have change your avatar to El Cicatriz or El Feo!

Thanked: 0Shaving necks and sideburns for 25 years
I have always used Monsieur Charles Straight Razor with personna injector blades, and LOVE 'EM. I saw the original post is three years old, but felt compelled to go on the record. Unfortunately right now, 10/2010, I am struggling to find injector blades! Found them at Atlanta Barber Supply, whom I love, but shipping, especially something so small, is pricey. If anybody actually sees this post, and has any good info for a professional looking to get further into shaving as a service, I am all ears.
