Thanked: 10Lucky number 19?
Tonight I finished my 19th shave. My exceptions was to get a complete shave and not miss any area's. My neck and jaw line have been giving me problems.
Everything started off strong my cheeks shaved bbs I went with the grain then side and finally AG. Rock star status then my upper lip no problem. My chin started out great so I moved onto my jaw and neck feeling like a pro now! Now that I'm feeling good I move back to my chin to clean it up with a little AG which I've never done there.
Here's where it goes wrong dinner is ready I've been in the bathroom for 45 min and I want to get done and show off my skills. I put the razor to my face to get my 30 degree angle and I guess I pushed to hard and gave myself a really nice 1/2 cut on my chin. Had to use the septic stick to stop the bleeding.
Note to self I'm a rookie beginner green horn meat noob whatever else you can think of. So in closing 19 started out great and a second of rushing and I gave myself a1/2 reminder that a SR doesn't care if dinner is ready.

Thanked: 220Very true, one must dedicate complete undivided attention to their straight razor shave, or there will be dire consequences!

Thanked: 4827I got myself good near the beginning. The lessons were, never rush, never use a substandard lather, never shave when very tired. All three of those lead to a scar that is likely going to be there for years, it is about an inch long. Many have learned things the hard way. There is a cut of the day thread to help us remind others what we should not be doing. Relax and pick a time that will give you infinite time, or at least ample.

I am pretty sure we have all been there, at least I know I have!! The scar will be there to remind you to take it slow and not rush things...
Remember that when you fall off the horse you need to get right back on again, just make sure there are no distractions tomorrow

I popped my chin a couple of times in the beginning. Stypic pencil, liquid bandage, and Neosporin are your friends.
