    Default Anti-shave of the day

OK, I'm posting this in the noob section because today I took a giant step backwards, making fundamental errors.

What can I say? You 'Commandoes of Rich' just chip away until a decently clothed man feels a need to experiment. So I shaved commando....

    in the bath.

Oh boy, was THAT ever a mistake. I finish my Wednesday night football game (soccer to those who are used to using football to describe a game primarily using the hands) and decide to shave whilst in the bath. You know, pores would open wiiiiiide, water everywhere to rinse, take my time, yadda yadda yadda.

Why didn't you warn me?! Sure, it seems so obvious NOW. Now that I have a cut on my chin, one on my top lip, and a big bleeder on my little pinky (damn those Lynn-honed supersharp razors!).

Razor burn everywhere. No grip whatsoever so skin stretching was impossible. Sweat pouring from my brow into my eyes as I tried desperately (and failed) to concentrate.

Seriously, that was a very big lesson learned. I will never shave in the bath, shower, sauna, pool, river, ocean, whatever.

Right, I'm off to sulk for a couple of days. See you guys later. Hmmmmph.

Attention anyone who has yet to learn this: DO NOT SHAVE IN THE BATH!!! (This was a public service announcement.)

    Yep. I feel you pain.
Here's a lesson I learned the hard way.
A few months ago, after a workout at the gym, I sat in the spa and steam room for awhile. After a hot shower, I set up to shave at one of the many sinks in the locker room. I was still pouring sweat (my body temp. had to be near boiling) and my facial skin was pure mush from all the steam. As I put the blade to my cheek, some dude walked by, saw my shaving rig, and shouted out "whooooooooaaaaaaaaaa". The startled Dovo dug into my cheek. Blood poured...embarassment rose...anger grew.
I now have a scar to remind me that straightrazor shaving is a private enterprise--a wonderfully lonely task that is to be done in our own private space in time.

um,,,, It's been stated Everywhere that shaving with a straight in the bath (or Shower... watch those football references...) is a very bad idea.... just the idea of dropping the razor whilst unclothed is bad enough for me!

That said, I know there are a few here who do and like it.

    Mark!

Ha ha!!! Everyones first time is a bit of a let down! Don't let it put you off! Rumour has it that RichZ will be doing a 'How to...' video if you can't get the hang of it!

On a different note...I have an overnighter in London coming up...how far is Trufit and Hill from Regent Street (cost in a taxi? - ish?)?

Hope your next Commando mission goes better!

Yep I've been there too, I thought it would be great. My beard would be so soft and slippery.
Doh! Of course I didn't consider my hands would also be!
A mistake never to be repeated!

Truefitt & Hill seems to be in St James's Street, nearest tube Green Park. That makes it a short walk from the south end of Regent Street, and would take about as long to get there in a taxi :-). St James's Street runs south from Piccadilly about half way between Piccadilly Circus and Green Park, and Truefitt & Hill should be a short way down there, about half way to Pall Mall.

Of all the mistakes I've made and will make this is one that I won't be making.

    Definitely.

    Without a doubt.
