Thanked: 0Star Shaving Contact?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to wet shaving and I recently picked up a razor from the classifieds as well as as strop and brush from Star Shaving. I placed my order on September 5th. The order confirmation e-mail said I would receive shipping information once it was shipped, but I've heard nothing at all about my order so far. Since the 5th, I've e-mailed twice and tried to call their number three times with absolutely no replies. Does anyone have prior experience with this vendor? Is this normal for them? I can understand a delay in shipping the order, but it's been more than two weeks now and I've heard nothing from them at all so I'm beginning to get worried. Should I call my credit card company?
Thanks so much for your help.

From what I've heard, Star has been out of action for a little while. I would call your credit card company. Oh, and welcome to SRP.

I would. They never pick up the phone or reply to your e-mail. I ended up contacting my CC company after 4 months of patiently waiting and I was credited immediately. If I recall the case was closed nearly 2 months later when Star Shaving finally refunded the funds.

They have always been kind of a cantankerous outfit to deal with.

Thanked: 4828As far as I know it is a one man show, and the one man has had some serious health problems off and on. I have not dealt with them for some time. There are a lot of stories of people having a really bad time trying to communicate with Star Shaving. Personally I have had no issues but have certainly heard of more than one person with similar stories.

I ordered two strops the 27th of August. Got the confirmation email. No communication after repeated emails. Unfortunately, I used a gift card, so I'm pretty much out of luck and lost my money if they don't deliver.
I will eventually see if I receive them or not, but either way, they won't ever get another penny from me, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone ever again.
I have a Youtube channel, and have recommended them there several times. If my strops are not here soon, I will go on my channel, explain the situation as diplomatically as I can, and rescind my recommendation. I don't want to bash them, particularly if there are health issues, but I can't wait too long. One of my viewers might see my recommendation and get taken for a ride like I seem to have been. I cannot allow that if I can prevent it.Mike

No, it isn't. I've used them once before, on their reputation on this forum, and recommendations here and elsewhere.
They were slow, but they answered my emails, so I was good with it. Communicating with customers goes a long way for me.
This time, they dropped off the face of the earth. No contact, whatsoever. And I'm not the only one. I can point you to three current threads on SRP alone, from 3 different people who are having/have recently had the same problem.
This is unacceptable to me, no matter how many people come on to this thread trying to tell me that ,"this is just how they've always been".
OK, but like has been said, from now on, I'll vote with my wallet.
Period.Mike

Welcome to SRP. Vendor customer issues must be settled between the two parties concerned. We are a shaving forum and have no affiliation with Star Shaving, nor any control over their business practices. If it were my order I would probably take Brontosaurus's advice and call my credit card company, or paypal. Closing this thread as we have a rule against vendor 'bashing' since there are two sides to every story, and though we don't doubt your word, we can't be the public mediator of these occurrences.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
