Thanked: 7Can anyone tell me about this razor?
I've just purchased this on eBay in Singapore, where I live, and it cost me approximately US$30. Has my first purchase of a used razor been a smart one?
I figured that if it was a bum steer I can use it to practice my stropping and honing, if it's a good bye I'll send it off to get reconditioned.

Thanked: 3228From the one photo of not great quality all I can say is that it appears to be in good condition, at least on the side that can be seen. It is a Solingen made razor which is an area known for producing quality blades. I have one Herder and it is a fine shaver so I'd expect yours to be also. I would think it is good enough to warrant having it cleaned up and honed by a pro. I don't think it is a practice razor to be hacked up. For those reasons I think your first purchase of a SR has been a smart one.

Thanked: 3795If you mean to send it out for honing, just make sure that it is to someone who shaves with a straight and not some random knife sharpener. They need to use hones, not power tools.

Very nice for the price. Herders are good, get it honed and use it!
