Default First shave with a straight razor

I started shaving with a shavette about a year ago and tonight I shaved with my real straight razor. It was a very different, but great experience. I only got a nick under the nose, and I certainly need a better lathering soap. I wanted to say thank you to Cudarunner for sending me the loaners, they are fantastic!

Already looking forward to the next shave

Great job! There are lots of different, high quality soaps and creams from which you can choose. If you suggest a type of scent you enjoy, I'm sure you will get plenty of recommendations (and specifying a scent will help reduce ones you may not enjoy).

Something with Eucalyputs Mint. I used in the past Taconic. It was fairly good.

Learning how to shave under the nose is tricky. Especially if you've got quite a wide blade. Great job!

+1 on eucalyptus but this is very personal preference.
Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey.

Eucalyptus and I don't get along. The odor is pleasant but to my nose reacts differently. That's the beauty of having so many choices out there. Eventually, you find your match(es) and that's one hurdle less to be jumped.

You may want to try a cream too. They are easy to lather and usually perform nicely, and many are inexpensive...
Smarter than I look or, not as dumb as I look. Whichever you prefer.
