    Arrow Hello from Portugal

    Hello.

I'm a new user. Some months ago I was given a Dovo straight razor as a gift.
Since my skin is particularly sensitive and was sick of safety razor burns, I gave it a try afterreading several articles about the ancient art of straight shaving. I love it.
I'm the only person I know that straight shaves. When talking to my barber, he looked at me in a strange manner when I told him I used a straight razor. He told me - "You'll cut yourself pretty bad!". I nodded and told him "Not really, I shave myself pretty smoothly and I rarely cut myself".
I don't know why, but it's hard to find good stores with straight razor items here. A long time ago, my country had lots of little shops with great items. But they are closed now for a long time.

I'll post my opinions and doubts here and hope to have a good time and specially learn a lot what I like to call "The ancient art of straight shaving".

Welcome Leon and congratulations on your new found hobby/passion. When I started using a straight, my barber was sceptical as well. I don't think Portugal is unique in its lack of shops that carry gear for straight razor shaving. If not for on-line retailers I think many of us would be out of luck.

    Cheers,
    Ed

Don't mean to throw your thread off course Leon (I'm one of the handfull of thread hijackers around here) but you're in the process of getting to know people around here anyway.

But I like any movie like The Professional where a loner guy is a relunctant hero but decides to kick some a$$ ---- even if he gets wacked in the end

    Welcome again Leon
