going to london :)
hello everyone ,
i wasnt quite sure where to post this but anyway .
i am going to london in 2 weeks and i want to make sure i go to all the right places.
what is the best place to get a nice straight professional shave?
what are the best shops for shaving in london?
any other tips on where to go which is shaving related ? , maybe even a good antique store to find a nice vintage straight (would love to find a wade and butcher)

Lucky you ....If it were me, these would be on my visiting list :
As for antiques, I'd try the Portobello Markets although they're pretty touristy (expensive) and
I've been told, bargains are hard to come by.
Good Luck and Enjoy !!http://straightrazorplace.com/workshop/18504-welcome-workshop-how-do-i-where-do-i-what-do-i-answers-here.html

I would make a side trip to the British Museum
Perhaps not shaving related."Call me Ishmael"

Thanked: 1081London is a weird and wonderful place, steeped in history and some of the best barber shops in the world.
Bongo has pointed out some great shops. An other great place is Trufitt and Hill in St James Street. Established in 1805.

My trip to London happened in 1970...I still think of that 'weird and wonderful' place!

For a pro shave, you might want to look up Gary Haywood in London. He's posted here, and is very active on the latest incarnation of coticule.be. He always seemed a very straight-forward & personable guy. If I were going there - that's who I'd want to try a shave from.

Thanked: 1081A straight razor shave at Trufitt and Hill (St James st) is £45.
Taylor of old bond st (Jermyn st) is £38.
Trumper do one as well but get mixed reviews.
This is London so you do pay a premium and I would defo book in advance.
Gary Haywoods barber shop is in Nottingham I believe and would be too far from London.
