    Default How to fix a scratch

    Hi guys
    I got a long (8" aprox) light scratch on my 3"latigo strop...how to fix it is the question.

    A picture of the damage would help. Was the scratch caused by improper technique or by a chip in the bevel or perhaps a sharp corner on the razors spine. The important point is to learn the cause and rectify it in the future. Strop treatment and repair - Straight Razor Place Library PS..Check out the Strop and Stropping sections of the forum.

    I agree with wirm that we can't help much without more information and a pic helps. Is it a light scuff scratch or a light cut type scratch. Both would be delt with differently. Always start with the remedy with the least effects to the strop. You can always do more but can't take it back. Good luck

    Scratch vs cut? There is advice around the forum somewhere for fixing cuts. I almost immediately put a cut in my Illinois 992 when I bought it new in 1976. Luckily it was near an end. It is now like your scratch will one day be--part of the patina that makes the strop recognizably yours. Give it a little love and don't put so much pressure on the strop.
