Thread: Learnt something new today!

Here's the story, I was out on the Golf course today, sun was coming out and I didn't put enough sunscreen on.
I went home, cleaned up and my face was feeling a little warm, but as I had an office party to be at I decided on a nice two pass shave.
Big mistake! The shave went well and I thought all was well, but after a couple of hours I started to glow as my face turned red and hot, this resulted in a lot of comments from my guys at work, but as the sun is so fierce here all understood what a round of Golf can do to your skin if you mess up the sunscreen.
What I learnt was that if your skin has been sunburned the skin will swell a bit, so even though you think you have close shave, it's not, because when the skin settles down the whiskers become more apparent and that smooth shave is no longer smooth.
it made me realise just how many variables there can be when shaving, and this one got me. I can see the funny side of it and realise what a 'doofus' I was.
Im off to Scotland on Sunday for the holidays, and the sun is nothing but a rumour there, so I'll be able to get a really close shave cos my skin will shrink in the cold and the whiskers will hide away deep in the pores when I venture out into the cold wind and rain.
This is just a ramble about my experience yesterday and those to come, I doubt there is much scientific evidence of my thoughts here, but I thought I'd share just for Sh**s and giggles as my Son would say.

Don't forget it's not the sun, it's the UV radiation. Even if it is cloudy and overcast, wear a hat or use sunscreen. Though I have to say Scotland in winter is probably a pretty safe spot in terms of sunburn.
