Again, they are only on the left side of the razor (when holding it blade-side down in front of me). So in other words, it is happening when the razor is drawn back towards me on the strop (I'm right-handed). I've attached a photo here to give you a better idea of what I'm talking about. The leather shards seem to pile up right in the area I colored in red on the picture.
