Read then read again and then look at all the new tips and the sticky son starting out , then heed the advise, as for how long a shave ready edge lasts that's up to you doing your homework and maybe putting in the time to find a mentor close which is easier by putting your location in your profile , then sit back and try to be patient. The classifieds are good places for razors to start with, not Ebay or joe knife sharpener, Tc

Good advice from various members. SRD for beginner's set or the SRP Classifieds for a shave ready vintage. Walmart is OK for a mug, soap and a brush if they are carrying Van Der Hagen sets of them. Large drugstore chains should also have them. Other than the library back postings in the Beginner's Tips can also be helpful.
And by all means, re state your location. A mentor my be living right down the street fromyou. Nothing can replace a couple of face-to-face sessions on getting started in straight razor shaving."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."
