    Default First Blood!

I've been at it for about a week and nary a nick. I've been doing two or two and a half passes WTG and XTG. Today I was messing about with a third ATG pass. I was doing an awkward goofy angle where throat turns into under the chin, couldn't find an angle that I liked and in the process...a shallow little quarter inch slice.

It takes me back to that day months ago when I slices a mole clean off my chin with a Slant/Feather combination.

On the upside, I'm catching up to my DE shaves quickly. This is out of necessity. While I'm tolerant of the transition/learning curve shaves... my wife is pining for my old DE shaves. Nothing like a little incentive.

One rite of passage down... I'm one of the gang now...hehe.

Another milestone reached. I thought I'd add to this thread instead of starting a new one.

A while back I picked up 3 Wapienica's to learn/practice honing. I've been using the 6/8 Bismarck...it was starting to get a little rough. Last night I gave it around 15 laps on the coticule and used it this mornin for a few WTG passes and I actually improved it! I wasn't expecting that. I also honed up two of the W's and I finished this morning's shave with one of Wapienica's I honed myself.

All this being said... yesterday mornings shave was a Slant/Feather combo and very smooth, so I didn't have a full day's growth to work with. Still no irritation though.

I'm loving this straight razor stuff. Even though my technique needs work, and I'm not as close as my DE shaves, they feel better to me.

Anyhooo... props to the forum. Without all the info here, this would have been a miserable experience.
