Yup, as dmnc said, the whole letting the razor rest before stropping is bunk. Personally I strop (briefly - about 15 or so strokes) on linen then leather after shaving before putting the razor away. I have no idea if that has any effect on the quality of the edge as I strop fully before shaving, but I really don't care either as that isn't the reason I strop post-shave. For me it's all about being absolutely sure that there is no moisture lingering on or near the edge before it gets put away.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Enjoy your new razor and remember don't be in a hurry. It's a long and enjoyable road.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

Thanked: 0I just got done with my first shave! Not the most comfortable, but I imagine poor technique is to blame. There was some pulling, but the razor passed HHT...
Any thoughts on this?-James

Thanked: 0Update from earlier.
When I touched up the shave with my DE, I purposely left an area on my left cheek untouched-up. I did 10 laps on the linen side and 20 on the leather. Now it appears as if the edge has a mirror finish, whereas before the first shave I could not see the edge. I lathered that one area on my cheek and put the blade flat against my skin. Then I slowly rotated the blade a few degrees and pulled the razor straight down.
All I can say is that I didn't even feel the edge on my skin! It took the hair off extremely clean, and that area is now almost BBS! I will continue to work on technique so I can achieve this result everywhere.-James

Thanked: 55Answered your own question. Keep at it and you'll be having extremely good shaves all over soon. Remember to figure out direction your hair grows too, makes a huge difference.
