    Dmt d8c or atoma 400. Personally prefer the atoma as its far lighter doesn't stick and can buy replacement grits for it. Brought the 1200 replacement and stuck it on the back for a double sided hone

    Don't mean to jack the thread, but what is an ideal grit to lap a 12k stone?

    This may surprise you but the above-mentioned DMT8C (325 grit) or the Atoma 400 both are just fine (pun intended) for lapping a 12k synthetic hone.
