I feel exactly the same. Now that I have gotten the shaving part down, I am just loving the investigation of mew soaps and creams. I now often talk about shaving at work. I sure never did this before!

Shaving is pretty much just a grooming necessity. Using a straight or silly aggressive DE (like a Muhle R41) just makes it all that more efficient.

Thanked: 5my view on shaving has greatly changed over time. I started shaving with a cartridge, I hated it. it was just one more thing that i didnt want to take the time to do. it didnt feel uncomfortable, or bother my skin, i was just lazy. I used them for years. only when necessary and as fast as possible. which sometimes meant dry face to cartridge. . . get the hair off and go. . . as fast as i can. for the last couple years i took great interest in the idea of straights, like maybe there is something to the "shaving ritual" that im just not understanding. I found a cheap DE in a store a while back and after a lot of thought made the purchase. just to see if this obsession of mine was worth following. well, since i bought it (6 months ago?) ive shaved every other day, just got my new R41 which i LOVE. ive spent more time than id like to admit researching blade, creams, soaps, other razors, and the like. i have joined this site, ive promised myself never to let a cartridge anywhere near my face, and i still have drams of moving on to a straight when i have perfected my hand eye coordination with my left hand. shaving is now fascination to me and I am on a personal mission to find the most luxurious closest shave possible.
edit: there was an electric shaver in there that i used 3 time. . . when i learned that it left stubble i felt like i was completely wasting my time and its been in my closet ever sinceLast edited by Shavetime; 01-24-2016 at 07:45 PM.

I always loved shaving. Anything that involves concentration is good in my books.
