Funny, I went to walmart earlier today and checked out that kit. Opened the box, felt the brush, etc. I think I'm going to get it, but I wanted to shop around before I did. I did however, buy a puck of van der hagen scented luxury shave soap while I was there....but it is in a green box. Why do you recommend against the green box one? O_O
Also ironic; I stopped at CVS on the way home and checked this one out as well. I wasn't fond of the handle-less cup and lack of a stand.
I already have a Black Ralf Aust - Solingen 5/8" coming in the mail.
Is badger the stiffest bristled brush? I figure I'll end up buying the walmart kit and replacing the brush eventually.Last edited by Sunshine1; 02-07-2016 at 02:30 AM.

I gave it a sniff test before buying. I liked the smell, which was surprising since I'm very picky when it comes to hygiene products(deodorant, cologne, etc). Earlier today I used it to make a lather to soften my face fur and to do a quick touch up. My girlfriend said it smelled citrusy, which I didn't pick up on. I think it smells more earthy. Either way, I like it. *shrugs*

I actually like the VDH "greeen box" soap. It's a personal thing I guess.
To answer your other question, typically boar brushes are stiffer and badger softer.Braz
