I have to agree with the mock shaves, and the fact that you seem to be shaving "goofy footed" (to borrow a skating term). My "mock shave" was with a Fromm hair shaper with the guard removed, which I borrowed from the wife's bag of tools left over from her cosmetology school days. The replaceable blade was dull, and the whole experience was awkward because I didn't have the muscle memory yet.
Don't worry, you'll get there! I'm a year in, with my slow beard growth bringing my shave count estimate to around the "100 shaves" they talk about. It's been a blast! Just give it some time, and you will get very comfortable, & a but confident with your shaving.
I don't explicitly condone anyone attempting it, but I shaved blindfolded two months ago.

Btw, it's a "single take" video, so feel free to skip past the first several minutes where I wrestle with the practice strop I used as a blindfold .Decades away from full-beard growing abilities.

Everybody felt this way at first!
Watch some videos of how others do it, my personal favorite is the Anthony Esposito on Youtube, but there are many others including SRD's own Lynn Abrams.
Take it slow, and before you know it you will be over the fear, and then the best shave of your life wont be far behind.
Best wishes,

Thanked: 250Another guy to watch is Magnus Gabrielsson. His shaving technique is almost a mirror image of mine and his videos are REAL shaving with no chit chat on different soap scents.

Don't worry. Be happy. Keep at it. It will happen on it's own over time.
Be careful watching Magnus though, he's got razors and brushes that will make you want to spend WAY too much money.

Thanked: 44I'd lose the glasses if I were you. Its only a matter of time before you bang your razor's edge on the frame. I'm blind as a bat without my glasses and so I learned to shave without a mirror. Its not that hard to pick up. Little steps mate.
