It may have come from the maker poorly made, but it has definitely come from the seller damaged. I would very strongly urge you to return it for a refund and take your business elsewhere, such as Straight Razor Designs.

It seems like thiers blades are taking a pretty big turn for the worse. I recently purchased a new one as well from taos, and there was excessive hone wear on the spine, and a crack in the top of the toe, luckily they replaced it with a new one, even tho they have a strict no straight razor return policy. Maybe thiers QC has taken a dump?

I think you may be right about this. I was basically informed from the seller that since T.I razors are hand ground that they sometimes come with issues. He said, like most of you mentioned, it would shave fine, just more of an appearance thing. Even with the spine wear and large uneven bevel, should I still expect a razor like this to last a lifetime?

No reason it shouldn't, long as you don't compound the issue with crazy honing practices. Get a cheapo blade to get your honing down pat, before ever touching the good stuff

I think a good many T.I.'s have this wear to compensate for some warpage at heat treat.
And yeah they may of went heavy handed on the wheel at the factory on purpose. if cosmetics bother you return it. But if it shaves well its your call.

I just wanted to to let you guys know that I took a lot of what everyone said into consideration and I ended up returning the razor for a full refund. The company I dealt with had no arguments about the refund as they customer service is top notch. He informed me that the quality control of the newer T.Is is not the same as they used to be and the grind is sometimes hit or miss. He said he uses tape on all his honing jobs so I believe him when he said it was due to how it was made in the factory. Nice razor but for close to $200 CAD I expect more, and I thank those who pointed out the flaws as I really didn't know much to begin with.
