You hit the nail on the head! That's exactly what was going through my head when I wrote that. I wanted to see if anyone else thought that.

I agree. I laugh when I see people paying a premium for a shirt with Gander Mountain or Ambercrombie on them. I will wear a hat with a logo on it if you give it to me....

I think people waste way too much time wasting money on things they don't need.
the idea of a shaving utensil that makes a mockery of planned absolesense is very attractive to me because I don't have to contribute to the throw away culture we live in.
Ironically, I'm have to keep a Gillete Fusion for travel (I don't check luggage so no choice), that could be a back up if I needed it.

I am guilty of collecting things that I do not need.

I wanted a monogram because I like the idea of passing this to my son if he were to embrace it.
I like the look of Rams horn more than any other scale material I've seen. So I'm kinda set on that.

I think you should think more of your grandson. Your son will be shaving whnile you still are. by the time your grandson shaves if you are still alive you will be on blood thinners etc. and not using it anymore.

There's a minimum level of risk accepted with a straight razor, I get it. But some razors are riskier than others and the slightly closer shave and collectability doesn't really mean much to me.

If you have good hand eye coordination shaving with a straight is easy The danger is way overrated by mostly macho types. One of my coworkers asked today about a nick below my sideburn. I said I got in a hurry this morning and used a DE. Honest.

I wouldn't want to claim I made it, I'm not a craftsman and I'll gladly refer anybody interested to whoever made mine.

I forged and ground my first straight a couple of weeks ago. As it happened I didn't put a makers mark on it. {I don't have one.} It was more important to me to learn at the time. So now when I get famous #1 will have no mark. I can always add one if I want to. [ Does this mean that all these great shaving unmarked razors are mine?]

I hope the blue here makes sense. I tried something different and it sort of worked!
