Thanked: 0Storage
I know this topic may be beat to death but I want to hear from anyone that really does leave their carbon steel SR in the bathroom in the open on display, is rusting really an issue for you? Im curious if I oil the SR with razor/mineral oil, will it still rust if I leave it out in the bathroom on display? Does anyone do this? Currently I oil it after every use (only use 1x or 2x/week) and store it in a leather holder and store in medicine cabinet

I have always stored mine in the safe, with a dehumidifier, leaving out in my bathroom isn't feasible because of grandchildren, we still have a couple who are young and curious, but I could leave mine out if I choose too, I think as long as you dry it properly and use a vent fan it would be fine, but I shave every day so I could catch it before it rusted. All mine are in the bathroom. Low humidity since I live alone (w/a noisy half Siamese who doesn't like closed doors) the door is never closed. But I do lightly oil them with a dab of mineral oil.

If the blades are stored in the bath and get condensation they will rust. Each bath is different and the amount of humidity is dependent on the length of shower, shower water temperature, ambient temperature, exhaust fan and central air flow. There are many variables.
If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Thanked: 228Four razors on bathroom counter and no problems so far. As an aside, I would not keep a razor in a leather holder. I think that is asking for trouble. It seems like it would keep moisture from evaporating if any was left on the razor.

I wipe my razors down with a oily rag after every shave and stropping. Then they are stored in a wool roll-up and kept in a bathroom drawer. Works for me.

From my understanding leather may absorb moisture then hold it against the razor causing rust to occur. If worried a small airtight container and a desiccant pack will work well
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Thanked: 0That is a nice looking stand!
I put my razors in sack up sock, away from the bathroom. You will find out what works best for you.
